BUYDOWN

Definition

A method of the principal and interest payment for a specified period of time by creating an escrow account to subsidize a part of the payment. The reduction is usually expressed in terms of interest rate. Buydowns may be permanent or temporary and may be buyer or seller funded or lender subsidized.
